arch-logoArchEX 2013 dual boot is a new Linux live DVD based on Arch Linux. Arch motto is KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid). ArchEX uses kernel 3.7.5-1-ARCH (latest Arch kernel) and the LXDE Desktop environment. Installed programs: Among many other programs, Firefox 18.0.1, Wicd and GParted. Study the full package LIST.  All programs have been updated to the latest available stable version as of February 7, 2013. You will run the live system as root. There is no password for root. ArchEX can easily be installed to the hard drive (of those who so desire). That is directly while running ArchEX live from a DVD or USB stick. The system language is English.

Compatible and rolling
ArchEX is (of course) fully compatible with Arch Linux. This means that you (anytime) can upgrade the whole system with the command pacman -Syu. ArchEX/Arch Linux is also a so-called rolling distribution, which implies that once you have installed the system on the hard drive there is no need for re-installations (which otherwise is common in the Linux world).

Boot up the live system and login to LXDE
When starting up ArchEX från DVD or USB stick you will first see this boot screen. Choose if you want to run the 64bit version or the 32bit version of ArchEX. When the boot process is ready you will end up as root in console mode. Run the command startx to enter X and LXDE.

See a screenshot of the LXDE Desktop.
